I’m no Insta-savy expert, but I do loooove instagram (as witnessed by the number of photo I post on a daily basis!) So I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help me create beautiful content for this social app. If you love looking pretty or pretty cool in photos too, read on and hopefully some of these ideas will tickle your fancy!
1. Be Artsy.
Jack always rolls her eyes or laughs at me when I say this because being “artsy” is totally subjective. But what I mean when I say this is to mix it up a bit and take photos from different angles, or use different props, or just do something you don’t normally do! And no, not like me holding up this leaf above. That’s just a big fat failed artsy moment!

2. Foreground
If you can’t be artsy, then just add foreground to your photos! It adds so much dimension and even mystery to the shot. I find that plants always work easily with this idea, but feel free to play around with just about anything. Colored bottles give a very cool vintage effect too!

3. Be Candid!
Have someone take a burst of shots while you are actually in motion, and you’re bound to find an “action shot” in there somewhere where you look decent (or even cute!) and oh so natural!

But also be prepared for the funny captures after!

4. Β Background
Add interest to your images by taking photos in interesting places. If you post OOTDs on a daily basis, it can get boring. Mix it up a bit with your background!

5. Look for the light
When shooting indoors, always try to face the window, or nearest light source. This allows your photos to look bright, crisp and not grainy. Natural light always beats indoor lighting in my honest opinion.

6. Coordinates
Match with your mom/sister/friend/brother/boyfriend or heck, even match your outfit with your dog! Or with your background! 2 of a kind photos always have a cute visual illusion and end up being very “like-able”.

7. Straighten
Make sure to straighten your photos before you post them. And if you’re on a downhill slope or somewhere hard to manoeuvre, cheat it and zoom in!

8. Hair Flip
or wind in hair…ALWAYS WORKS lol

9. Blogger Pose
Awkward in front of the camera? Make like your fave bloggers and look down! You can easily liven up the photo even while doing so by creating shapes with your arms and legs!

10. Flattering OOTDs
What looks good in person does not always translate in photos. Know your angles, create fail safe outfits that will look good no matter what, and shoot your OOTDs at a low angle to create length.

10.5 Don’t forget to add a little effort- personally, it’s totally worth it!
