4 Make Up Looks for the Summer

Tomorrow marks March 2017- how totally insane is that?? I feel like we’re jumping so quickly from month to month. Just today I filled up a form at the hospital (I’m sick 😷) and stopped at “age,” only cause I couldn’t remember how old I am. And then it came to me (like a wrecking ball) and I couldn’t believe that I’m already 27 years old (!!!). I mean whaaaat. How did that happen? I still feel 18 tbh!!! Anyway, there’s really nothing we can do but embrace it, am I right? And with the summer coming for us in just a few more weeks, I thought I’d gear you up with some of the hottest beauty trends that I learned from my trip with MAC COSMETICS in Mactan Cebu just a few days ago.

Top make up artist to our fave hollywood celebs (Angelina Jolie, Gwen Stefani, Dita Von Teese etc) Mr. Gregory Arlt, was there to talk about these trends. Most of them came straight from the runway, and I know how intimidating that is to most of us “normal girls.” So, I thought I’d break it down for you in a more realistic and wearable way. Enjoy!

Time to throw out the cakey foundation and overly matte face. We want REAL SKIN. A fully hydrated base (moisturize, my friends!), a touch of concealer, some lip and cheek tint, and natural but groomed brows. You like? This is my everyday make up look atm!

2. WET

Gloss is in. Glossy hair, glossy skin, glossy eyelids. The runways were slippery and dripping wet. But we don’t have to go all out to make this trend work for us. In fact, most of the time, the humid weather will bring out our natural gloss for us! Just make sure the right parts of the face are highlighted (cheekbones, under the brows, cupids bow, nose bridge). The rest, keep them matte! Start with well hydrated skin, apply some cream highlight, don’t over powder and spritz with facial mist throughout the day!

Think sun kissed, beach babe. Peachy cheeks, bronzed skin, a bit of glow, and natural skin. It’s the season when everyone wants freckles, and I’m happy I don’t have to draw on mine! If you’re super white, you can cheat with a bit of bronzer or a warmer foundation, but I like to skip foundation entirely in the summer because it just melts off anyway!

It’s time to be experimental with color and placements. We’re over the smokey eye, it’s been used and abused for too long. This time, we can get creative with fun colors and find more interesting ways to wear them. Not too comfortable with shocking pink eyes? Go for a bare lid and shocking pink lips instead! The point is, add a bit of something new and exciting to your look!
