Sometimes we try our best to fit in, conform to social norms and dress in a way that will keep people from having comments (good or bad) even when we don’t want to. We shy away from experimenting with different looks because of unwanted attention and try to stay inside our comfort zones. Well, I’m asking you- why do we do that? I get a lot of emails asking me how to deal with people staring at me for the way I dress, or giving negative feedback. And to them I always say: we should dress to make us feel good and feel our brightest, dress for ourselves and not for anyone else. It’s easier said than done, but once you get yourself to actually believe in that, it will come as second nature.

It’s not a common practice, but who’s to say you can’t wear a mens cotton tee cut up at the sides with a sheer pleated skirt and patent sandals? If I want to try and wear something as uncommon as this, why shouldn’t I give it a go? I believe that if you feel good about yourself and what you’re wearing, you will look good- don’t mind what anyone else sazys. You’ll be surprised at what you can pull off!
