Looking polished and cute is easy when you go preppy. It’s one of the easiest and most distinct ways to dress up, and it’s so close to home because I’ve always been the preppy over eager girl in school. I loved learning new things and I loved dressing up to learn those things even more. Cardigans and polo shirts are an instant fit to this style, so I’m going to show you how to get the look using both of these pieces. My first stop shop? Bayo! Bayo is known for their girly pieces, but I’ve always loved how their polo shirts fit, so I knew they had to be my brand of choice for this look! Plus, they’re a proudly Filipino brand, so they were on the top of my list! When I went to their store, I found this awesome stripe cardigan with red piping that perfectly matched my red polo shirt, and I decided to get both because they just looked so good together!

Because the colors were already so nautical, I played up that vibe by adding a gold chain necklace, and more chain details in my other accessories.

Even my nails matched my look! I only used 4 colors over all: Red, Blue, White and Gold. Very nautical and very Philippine flag, don’t you think?

I opted to go for this velvet navy miniskirt for two reasons. First, the top was already bulky because I had two layers on, so I didn’t want to wear another bulky piece on the bottom. Next, I was so covered up wearing these long sleeves and a high neckline, so I figured wearing skinnys would probably make me melt of the tropical heat! The velvet skirt was the perfect choice for keeping me polished yet cool at the same time.
