Handmade in South Africa

You have to admit, this crochet dress on my back is pretty immaculate. I got it mailed to me all the way from Sweden and the funny thing is, it was hand made from another distant continent- South Africa! The story is pretty cool. Sales from these beautiful dresses help families both in South Africa and Zimbabwe by funding the education of some unprivileged kids. So technically, buying this dress makes you look spectacular, and you get to help people along the way. Win win!

I know most people from the Philippines (well, most of my readers anyway) are weary about shopping online from international stores because of the taxes, customs and all that scary stuff we don’t really know about. Well, it’s really simple. I place an order, choose free shipping, and in a month, I get a note from the post delivered to my house saying the package is ready to be picked up. I go to my local Post Office, and there it is! All you need to pay is P40 and it’s all yours. Pretty simple!

Because of the strong message of my dress, I decided to wear my statement rings from Eazy Fashion. They are my new favorites! Eight inspiring words to dress your fingers with!

I was told that I’m the only Asian blogger that got sent a dress from Emma O Clothing (the rest of them are so bongga OMG), so I’m really flattered and I really hope I can help make a difference.

New favorite platforms. Wore them the whole day + night and my feet didn’t hurt one bit!

What do you think of my look?

Emma O Clothing dress, Aldo hat, Reecn sunnies, Glam Fashion necklace, Mango bag, Feet for a Queen platforms, Eazy Fashion rings

hype this look on lookbook and chictopia!

I really desperately wanted an Emma O Dress after seeing it here and how it looked- but when it turned up, it didn’t look like the dress on these pictures! The ‘crochet’ is really starchy and scratchy and therefore takes on the appearance of thick dental floss. I was ultimately disappointed in what I thought was a good trade off- money towards helping poor families and getting an awesome dress in return. I really wanted to like it but the material used and the fitting is all a bit ‘off’. At least it was a wrong purchase that benefited others for a change :)

I’m pretty sure that the dress I was sent was not the one that you’re wearing in the pictures. The dress in these pictures looks much shorter, with a finished hemline and the crochet looks a lot softer. Mine is longer, with no structured hemline, a slight hole in the back where it hasn’t been sewn together properly and the crochet is not soft but rather wirey. It’s weird, just looking at the dress online and in person- it’s like two different dresses. I had that moment when you open a parcel and go ‘is this it?, this can’t be it’ which his like the kiss of death for online shopping. But like I said, it’s a good cause nevertheless, just the dress didn’t live up to my expectations. X You look great in it though!
