A few days ago, Complex Cebu invited a few friends and bloggers to the launch of their newly acquired Brand, Sperry Topsider.
Sperry Top-sider is known to be the original boat shoe.
Known for being unbelievably comfortable and trustworthy on the deck, Sperry continues to capture a strong market- winning Brand of the Year in 2009, 74 years after it was first introduced! Wow, people are still crazy over Sperry Top-siders!
Spot the “No Socks Allowed” sign!
One of Sperry’s big clients, Mike! He’s been looking for original Sperry Top-siders in the Philippines for years now. At that time, they were only available online or at Rustan’s with a very limited selection. Now, he can hoard all the boat shoes he wants!
Complex also carries different brands aside from Sperry. One side of the wall belongs to the Men’s section-
and the other side, to the ladies.
This particular Zoo York shoe caught my eye. Mike says if I pursued my dancing career, I would be wearing these types of shoes, and not heels!
Karen Ong, one of the brilliant and bubbly people behind Complex, tells us about the history of Sperry Top-sider.
Jeff and I intently listen- or pretend to, at least. Hee, kidding.
“As Paul Sperry watched his cocker spaniel, Prince, run across the ice on a winter’s day in Connecticut, he noticed his dog’s amazing ability to maintain traction on the slippery surface. Turning over Prince’s paw, he observed hundreds of tiny cracks and cuts going in all directions. These wave-like grooves became the inspiration for Mr. Sperry’s latest patent, called Razor-SipingTM, and were instrumental in maximizing the traction and performance of the Authentic Original Sperry Top-Sider first introduced in 1935. Since inventing the first boat shoe, our brand continues to share our “Passion for the Sea” with those who enjoy the good life in, on and around the ocean.”
We had a little blogger contest, where the person who ties a barrel knot on a leather lace the fastest wins a pair of Top-siders. Aaaand…
I won!!! Yaaay!
You can hear Jeff chanting “si-siw, si-siw” (my nickname) and “YES!” when I say I’m done. Yes, he was so much into the game. He even threatened to not let me join him for lunch if I didn’t win! haha
Thank you so much to Sperry Top-sider for my cute new shoes! I wore them on a long day of traveling and my feet haven’t thanked me enough!
