Island In The Sun

Here’s a mini photo diary of my recent trip to Boracay last Labor Day weekend. The beach was still as pristine and perfect as I last saw it, and running to the waters without a care in the world was definitely the first thing on my agenda! How could you not with a view like this!

My friends and I stayed at Estacio Uno, a really nice upscale hotel at Station 1. The location was perfect- close to the sunset parties at White House and Sur (yet not super close to keep you up all night when you finally want to sleep!), among the cleanest and most peaceful beach fronts in the island, yummy breakfast everyday (never skip this most important meal!), and great customer service on top of the beautiful rooms and comfy beds!

On most afternoons, my friends and I rushed to the waters with some yummy cocktails and enjoyed each others company with crazy stories and games right before we headed to the jam packed shore where everyone was ready to party the day away! Thank you so much to Crazy Hombre for inviting me and my friends and giving us the best cabana in the house!

Diet shmiet. No one was allowed to think about counting calories. Vacation time means happy time, and no one is happy when they can’t eat what they want!

I was so happy to find these two surprises waiting for me at the hotel when I got home. Thank you so much to Volcom for sending me this super cute bikini, and to Native Shoes for these comfy and practical pair!

I can’t believe how packed this place gets every labor day. I had to find my spot away from the crowd up on the steps just so I could breathe! The energy was insanely contagious though! Everyone just wanted to dance and enjoy their vacation. What a successful event by El Hombre!

Every year I say I’ve had enough of the crazy Boracay, and that it’s time to move on to a new destination. But every year I always find myself back in the same place with the same people, having the same great time. I guess it’s just really more fun in the Philippines!

Sweet Escape

One of the best things about living in the Philippines is that we have 7,107 beautiful islands to choose from when we want a change of scenery. Among them is one I frequent every May since 4 years ago, the beautiful island of Boracay. I can never get tired of it because it’s absolute perfection! Powdery white sand, cerulean skies, crystal clear water as far as the eyes can see, fresh air and a loooot of yummy yummy food spots to choose from!

Mike and I always plan a date meal during our trips to Boracay, and when we date, it usually means a pig out session! We took a shuttle to the Shangri-la Resort (every hour at D’Mall) and went straight for Vintana Cafe where we had a gastronomic feast!

I didn’t take photos of everything we ordered because I was too busy eating them (oops) but among the six or seven entrees we had, above are three of them! I don’t really remember the exact names on the menu, but I had some sort of Smoked Salmon sandwich, Caesar salad, damn good potato wedges, and an Indian seafood soup or something like that. Mike had a few meat things which I didn’t bother remembering (oops again) but I’m pretty sure he liked it!

Just for laughs, here’s a classic and ultimately necessary “yaya’s day off” photo. There were more but I think I might have to burry myself in shame if I posted them! I kind of wish I took that photo of Mike and myself climbing the huge ass tree in the garden though!

Boracay usually needs no outfit planning aside from which bikini top to match with which bikini bottom (such a tough one, I know), but I decided to dress up in this beautifully draped number to hide all the belly buldge I knew I’d have after eating to celebrate such a romantic date with Michael <3 Isn’t this flattering dress such a cute thing to wear for dates by the beach?

Printasia

Are you cringing because I’m wearing print on print again? It’s been a while since I did a combo like this, and with print on print- it’s either you hate it or you love it! I was cleaning up my closet for the upcoming Bloggers United bazaar this coming June 1 (hope to see you guys there! I have soooooooo much nice clothes shoes and bags for you!) and I found this top smooshed in between a wave of newer pieces. It’s one of the few short sleeved button downs I have, and I can’t believe I completely forgot I had it! This is the third time I’m wearing it ( the first time with a mullet skirt and the second with snake skin pants), and everytime I keep thinking about how absolutely versatile it is! To prove that point, I decided to pair it with something totally unexpected, like these red paisley paper bag shorts! Considering animal prints are this seasons new neutrals, I’m not surprised everything worked out!

With so many prints going on in this look, I tried to keep my accessories at a matched set of colors, which I easily picked out from the print on my shorts. Among all the colors of the rainbow, I always find yellow the easiest to work with. How about you?

Instead of wearing something funky to complement my print-gasmic (oh yes, I said it. print…wait for it… GASMIC!) outfit, I chose to wear these sexy ankle straps instead. They provided just the right balance to my youthful look! With heels like these, you’ve got an instant solution for added sophistication on your outfit! Plus, I’m wearing my ultimate favorite nail polish hue “Kiss the Bride” on my toes, which makes it doubly more impressive!

Lastly, I tied my hair into a low ponytail to add a bit of maturity, and simply wrapped a few strands over the elastic. I love doing this simple trick because it takes your hair from gym-style to street-ready!

What do you think?
