Peplum is a funny word

Every time I use the word “Peplum” now, all I can think about it is how my friend Romina thought I made it up. She’s never heard of it before, and among all her officemates, only one person said she knew what it meant! Truth be told, it is sort of a funny word. And the peplum detail on my outfit today is similarly sort of funny. Who would have thought that there would come a time where belts would grow fabric and change the entire silhouette of your look. I decided to do a play on cuts and lengths and paired the belt with a mullet dress. It’s a bit unconventional, which is why I totally love it.

Kept the look from going over the top by sticking to classic colors: Black, gold and tortoise. It also helped give my look a glamorous yet edgy feel.

I’m so glad that this dress comes with peek-a-boo cutouts on the shoulder because it added yet another dimension to my outfit! Surprise details are always a favorite of mine.

your hair has color already!!!! :)

  2. Love it. I´m not a fan of mullet dresses and peplum is risky but you pulled it off awesomely. And “peplum” was actually an element of roman clothing. Christian Dior made it famous for the 20th century…

Haha peplum is a funny word. And then I sometimes pronounce it “peh-ploom” by accident.

You look great. I really love those bangles and, of course, the overall silhouette of your outfit.

Did you mean turquoise instead of tortoise? Hihi! Sorry, but I keep on thinking how a tortoise is related to the outfit… Loved your get-up, though! *wink* :)
