Reinventing Pieces: Garden Party + Meshed Up

When I was in college and I didn’t have much spare cash to spend on clothes, I always thought of new ways to wear the same pieces to get maximum milage out of them. I didn’t like repeating clothes all the time(who does), but I had no choice so I needed to get creative. I tried wearing a polo as a blazer, as an undershirt, as a tube top and even as a skirt! When you think about it, the possibilities are really endless! In today’s post, I’m going to show you a similar thing simplified. Here’s a pretty common floral dress worn two different ways (simply, don’t worry!) A printed dress is hard to reinvent because you wear it as both your top and bottom half, but with a few layering techniques, it can be done! You can wear it as a top, an undershirt, a skirt and so many other ways! In this post however, I’m going to show you how to create two different looks by wearing a dress as a dress, and changing just one piece of clothing. Enjoy!

I started with this “Garden Party” look, printed floral on printed floral in a simple blazer + dress silhouette.

The accessories I used were also clean and simple, because the look was already busy. A white chain bracelet and an enamel ring completed the outfit without taking attention away from it.

For my next look, all I did was swap my blazer for a bright neon mesh cover up- the difference in the overall feel of the look was huge! Even if I’m wearing the exact same pieces save for my blazer, I look like I did a complete 360 outfit change!

The key to this look was my mullet mesh coverup which acted like a highlighter over my bodycon dress. It’s soooo edgy and such a statement maker, isn’t it? Sheer pieces are always so tantalizing!

What do you think about this 2 in 1 look?
