Weekday Warriors: How to Beat Mid-Week Burnout

Most of us working folk have experienced the mid-week burn out. It’s hump day or hump day + 1, and we cant be bothered to think of anything other than that blissful Sunday when we can sleep in, no rush, no deadlines, no bosses. For those in creative fields, a burn out like this usually leads to crappy output- something that our normal selves would be ashamed to even think! To address this issue, here are a few tips to keep yourself sane in the membrane while on that busy roll.

1. Go Out.

If you feel listless and just want to lie down and be a lazy ass all day, you’ll only end up feeling worse. Force that heavy bum out of the door, even just for a quick stroll, and you’ll see the change of scenery will actually change your mood too!

2. Drink Up.

Water, I mean. Most of the time when I feel strange and sleep or uncomfortable at work, it’s because my body physically needs a pick me up. I’m often too busy to think of those 8 glasses of water, so usually dehydration is whats making me dizzy. Set a reminder on your phones during random times in a day so you never forget to treat your body first.

3. Speak Out.

Not against your boss or co-workers, but with them. Engage in conversation and let your hand wander away from your tablets, screens or phones for a bit. Your eyes will thank you and your social points will too! Especially if it means finding someone cute in the office. 😉

4. Do Something Else.

If you’re working on numbers, take a productive break and switch up your load with something different/creative. If you’re working on coming up with creative concepts, do the opposite with something mechanical. The small switcheroo will give you a time out and lead you back to your inital project with freshness.

5. Change Route.

Dress different, eat different, take a different ride, talk a different way- just play with your day to avoid boredom in your everyday routine.

Hope these tips help you, as they did me! As you can see, here I am wandering about like a lost girl in between weedy fields! Surprisingly felt so much better after I sat down again! Let me know if they do for you!x
