Candy Magazine recently launched a new book entitled “Candy Style Guide” featuring celebrities and some of Manila’s fashion bloggers. Here’s me under the style section GLAM:

Hannah Bacalla took this photo of me last year, and I absolutely love it. The dramatic composition perfectly captures the story behind my outfit. I also love the folded bubble front of my skirt and black chiffon trail we made out of extra fabric. Thanks to my bestfriend Gillian for that brilliant idea! Trivia: Hannah, Gillian and I were the team behind my Coach Poppy entry (which we won!)

This photo was taken by Ira Gioretti in UP Diliman early this year. I was outside the Fine Arts building and leaning on a graffiti wall with all things random! While we took photos, so many Jeepney drivers and passers-by kept looking at us. Probably because I was leaning beside obscene material! But Ira’s brilliant composition makes it so nice that you can’t even see it, and now, this photo is Candy Mag material! See the rest of the photos here.

I love how the process behind each shot makes it so much more interesting. Photos really speak a lot, which is why every single photograph is an incredible artwork. I always take so much time staring at photos that speak to me. It’s just soooo interesting! Dont you think?

I was never the bohemian kind of girl. Of course I wanted to be one. I always imagined hot bohemian chicks with long and loose limbs and that nonchalant vibe that screams i-spent-five-minutes-getting-ready-and-i’m-just-naturally-this-god-damned-hot. There was a phase in my life when I stopped brushing my hair in hopes that it would form natural waves (which did not happen), so I had to get it done at the salon. I also bought all sorts of loose,  layered clothes and scarves, but at that time, I was studying at Ateneo (otherwise known as the sun), so that didn’t really work out for me. And then I decided to just give up. I realized it was wrong to try and fit my personal style on an existing one. Especially when that trend is bohemian, and you’re a short asian chick.

But now, I decided to give it another go. How could I not when I found out we were shooting at nature’s epicenter, UP Diliman? I still felt very awkward and out of it, but it was a fun change. And I got to wear my favorite platforms, which definitely helped. So, I was a quirky little Asian Bohemian child. Weird and totally fun. Thanks to Ira for the photos! (Can you believe we shot this at 6pm?)

Day dreamer

This is one hell of a week. My schedule is JAM PACKED! With one thing popping up after another, I feel like I’m in college again! I always believe that hard work pays off. And although I might be a tad bit (or a whole lot) whiny, I secretly enjoy being this busy. I guess I got that from my grandma. She has the most amazing and inspiring rags to riches life story ever. Imagine selling slippers on the sidewalk, working from dusk til dawn (without employees) the day after she gave birth, taking care of 7 kids, and remaining absolutely beautiful the whole time. Her hard work paid off and eventually led her to success with a chain of department stores and supermarkets, restaurants, convention centers and a foam factory. A M A Z I N G. I’ll tell you guys about it soon, promise!

Anyhow, thanks to Ira Giorgetti for taking these awesome photos! Outfit is entirely from WAGW! Hype this look on lookbook and chictopia!

Photo taken by Ira Giorgetti during the Brasilipinas (Brazil + Pilipinas) event at Rockwell! Friendly tip for fashion bloggers who have no means to get their outfits photographed: go to Rockwell on Friday  and look for my friend, Ira! He takes shots for the mall’s Sartorial Friday’s campaign. It would make his life a whole lot easier! haha
